Business value

Prioritise, commit, govern

Three uses of a structured decision: prioritise scarce resources, quantify commitments and retain the conditions for future reviews.

Key points

What to remember

  1. 01

    Prioritise resources and compromises

  2. 02

Quantify the consequences of a commitment

  3. 03

    Make risks and dependencies visible

  4. 04

Retain the conditions for the next review

01

Value depends on the level of commitment

The three terms describe increasing levels of business commitment and correspond to Innovatio engagement levels. Each level combines the capabilities relevant to the decision being prepared.

The useful scope depends on the decision: an initial market comparison does not require the same capabilities as a five-year financial trajectory.

02

From the decision to the review point

A recommendation becomes actionable when it shows the resources considered, the assumptions supporting the result, the accepted risks and the signal that would justify a new analysis.

  • Selected priority
  • Economic assumptions
  • Risks and dependencies
  • Financial consequences
  • Review event or date
